Bodycare 101

We obsess over skin care for the face but what about skin care our bodies? We share some simple steps you can add to your daily routine for smoother, firmer and brighter skin.

1. Body brushing

Body brushing lifts and buffs away dead skin cells, encourages lymph node drainage and increases circulation. It is super effective for those who suffer from cellulite, dehydration and uneven skin texture. Dry brush before your shower everyday using long deep strokes brushing towards your heart.

Try, Mio Skincare Body Brush or the John Lewis version here.

2. Use a Body Scrub

Skin can appear puffy, dull or have patches of dry skin. Especially during the winter months, when we’re less active and more covered up. Using a body scrub in the shower can help reduce puffiness, dullness and dry skin. Crunchy salts and oils are great especially those with diuretic Himalayan salts (as they help shift trapped fluid) Coffee grains (targets dark spots and stretch marks). Using salts in your bath such as Epsom Salt is great for fatigue and puffy skin.

Try, Frank Body Coffee Scrub or Mauli Redwaken Himalayan Scrub.

3. Moisturise

After showering, alternate between a skin-polishing AHA or glycolic body cream one day and a depuffing cream or oil the next. This will keep your skin smooth and hydrated.

Try, Paula’s Choice 10% AHA Body Lotion and Kiehl’s Creme de Corps.

Extra, Cold Water Splash.

Use the shower head to jet cold water over feet, ankles, legs and buttocks - for 20 seconds at the end of each shower, repeating three times - this will firm and tighten your skin and help with lymphatic movement.
