Face Masks.. which type to choose?
Right now we could all use some self care and self love.. Face Masks to the Rescue?? There is something about doing a face mask that not only does wonders (plumps and hydrates) for your skin cells but also helps you feel good too. We’ve broken down the best types of face masks according to skin type, for you to do from the comfort of your home..
CREAM MASKS
Ideal for: Normal to Dry Skin
How does it work? Normal to dry skin types will benefit from a cream mask, which is rich in oils and moisturisers that penetrate deeply and replenish dry cells. Masks that contain hyaluronic acid have the added benefit of attracting and binding moisture to plump up flat skin cells, while algae extracts will help tighten and firm.
Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask - Best for moisturising.
Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask - Best for hydration.
CLAY MASKS
Ideal for: Normal to Oily Skin
How does it work? A restorative, moisturising clay mask that naturally detoxifies skin, as it hydrates without oil, is great for normal and oily skin types. Clay masks are occlusive (closing off the skin to the air) and trigger the brain to send down natural skin plumpers. They are also firming, detoxing and tightening.
Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask - Best for a deep cleanse.
DCL Detoxifying Clay Mask - Best for cleaning out pores.
GEL MASKS
Ideal for: Dry and Sensitive Skin
How does it work?: Gel masks are infused with collagen and antioxidants that help the skin with recovery and offer total rehydration of the skin. The soothing, cooling effect of a gel mask is great for dry and sensitive skin types that need hydration ahead of firming and detoxifying.
Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask - Best for soothing skin.
SHEET MASKS
Ideal for: Most Skin Types
Although sheet masks work with all skin types based on the formulas they contain, they are particularly excellent for resistant skin types when paired with serums. Apply hyaluronic serums under your sheet mask so that the occlusive nature of the mask can push the serums deep into the skin. Seal in the effects of the mask with moisturiser immediately after use.
Dr.Jart+ Dermask Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution - Best for a boost of hydration - all Dr.Jart+ Sheet Masks are amazing.
EXFOLIATING MASKS
Ideal for: Most skin types. However, if you have sensitive skin, try an enzyme mask.
Exfoliating masks remove dead skin cells and purge deep-seated dirt in your pores using hydroxy acids (like glycolic and lactic acids) and fruit enzymes. Aside from offering gentle exfoliation, exfoliating masks also have natural skin-brightening properties. Only use an exfoliation mask once a week, as it can be very drying. Given that it works to remove dead skin cells, it puts skin in the best possible position to absorb treatments and moisture - so use lots of serums, masks and moisturising products post use.
