Adapting your skincare routine for night and day can be super effective. Morning & Nighttime Skincare Routine. Daytime skincare is all about protection and preservation while nighttime skincare aims to address skin issues before the regenerative process of sleep begins.

Morning Routine

Cleanse

Cleansing in the morning will remove excess oil and reduce clogged pores. It’s important to use a cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type as using the wrong one can cause dryness or irritation. We break down cleansers per skin type here

Tone

Toners are a beneficial addition to your skin care routine. They can provide benefits such as  further cleansing, hydration, minimising pores and depending on the ingredients target specific concerns - such as oiliness and pigmentation.

Antioxidant Serums

Antioxidant Serums are an important part of any thorough skincare routine. They have so many benefits: they are the anti-inflammatory, skin-firming, wrinkle-softening, acne scar–reducing, sun damage–repairing, and brightening superstars of the beauty world. Antioxidant serums are often Vitamin derived with the superstars being Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) and Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide). More on vitamins here.

  • Vitamin C: A key anti-ageing skincare ingredient that brightens and smooths the skin. It's one of the most powerful antioxidants and helps protect your skin against free radical damage caused by the environment, which can break down your collagen and encourage wrinkles and sagging.

  • Vitamin B3: Reduces excess oil and minimises pores. Reduces inflammation, which may help with skin conditions such as eczema and acne. Treats breakouts by unclogging pores and smooths and hydrates skin.

Hydrating Serums

  • Hyaluronic Acid (HA) - Super ingredient for hydration - boosts skin's moisture content, soothes and prevents moisture loss.

Moisturise

Opt for a lightweight moisturiser for day time and apply as the last step before sunscreen. Moisturisers provide lots of benefits for skin including preventing dryness and protecting against UV Rays and toxins.

Sunscreen

Everyday, any country or city. Look for ‘broad spectrum’ sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB. Factors 30-50 are appropriate, the higher the better.

Evening Routine

Cleanse - to double cleanse or not?

If you are removing makeup, double cleansing might be an appropriate option. This is the method of using miselluler water to remove make up - and eye make up remover to remove eye makeup. Then cleansing again with a hydrating cleanser to remove any makeup, dirt or bacteria remaining.

However, using an oil or balm cleanser can melt away makeup in one step of cleansing - so based on how effective your cleanser is decide which approach you want to take.

Tone

You can use the same toner as in the AM.

Exfoliate

Chemical exfoliants such as BHA (Salicylic Acid) or AHA (Glycolic Acid) are used to exfoliate the skin. Benefits include unclogging pores, treating breakouts (acne), reducing pigmentation and collagen reproduction. Further breakdown of acids here.

Night Cream/ Over Night Cream

Overnight masks and night creams can provide moisturisation and anti-aging benefits. Choose one that contains Hyaluronic Acid which provides hydration - keeping it firm and plump. Other effective ingredients are Vitamin A and C both of which treat ageing and collagen production (Vitamin C).
