Eye Cream - is it necessary?
Should we treat our eyes differently to the rest of our face or is using the same treatment for our entire face enough?
The short answer is yes and no. The skin around the eyes is more sensitive and delicate and has some concerns that are different to the rest of the face - so should be treated differently.
The main benefit for eye cream (or eye serum), aside from reducing fine lines and brightening the eye area is to deliver ingredients at doses that are gentle enough to not irritate the delicate skin.
However, if you find your skin type under your eyes is the same as the rest of your face then you may be able to get away with using the same product all over. If you already use a gentle, effective day or night cream or a serum, this product is also perfect for the skin around your eyes.
Let’s talk about typical eye area concerns:
Bags & Dark Circles
Suffer from puffiness? This means that the fat cells under your eyes have sagged - sounds weird. Basically you have slept to little or retain fluid. A calming eye cream can help this but to see real change sleep more, drink less alcohol and eat less salt.
Dark circles under your eyes… Look for an eye product containing retinol which can help tackle dark circles. Retinol boosts collagen and plumps skin. Dark circles can be hereditary or a sign of aging as thin skin exposes underlying vascular structures.
Fine lines and wrinkles
Aging.. Breaks down collagen in the skin and reduces firmness causing wrinkles! Look for eye products with ingredients Hyaluronic Acid and Antioxidants - Vitamin C for collagen reproduction and plumpness.
ALWAYS wear Sunscreen - UVA and UVB, Broad spectrum minimum factor 50, yes even in London.
